___________________________________________________________________________ Mail: "-ERR Maildrop lock busy" or other error messages Q. I'm using Eudora to retrieve my mail from halcyon and Eudora displays the message: -ERR Maildrop lock busy ...and I can't get my mail. Then I try to use Chameleon Mail, and it tells me I have an incorrect password. How can I fix this? A. The problem arises when, in the course of transferring your mail from your mailbox on halcyon to your system, the network connection is lost for some reason. The POP program doesn't know that the connection was broken, and so the lock that's put on your mailbox (to protect you from losing mail while you're transferring it) stays there, like a faithful dog waiting for the return of its master. You can remove this lock easily by logging in to coho.halcyon.com. You'll need to use a telnet client, like the one that comes with the Chameleon Sampler for Windows, or NCSA Telnet for the Macintosh. Using your telnet client to connect to coho.halcyon.com, log in using your name and password. If you get the menu, choose the R option ("Re-sync your POP mailbox"). You'll see some messages, and all should be well once again. If the menu doesn't automatically come up when you log in, you can run it by typing: menu ...at the shell prompt. In the unlikely -- but by no means impossible -- event that this does not fix your problem, please call tech support at 455-3505.
